History

  • 1928 - Fall 1939
  • Location(s): Zhúlín Temple 竹林寺, Zhènjiāng 鎮江

This seminary was the brain child of the host temple's abbot, Ǎitíng 靄亭. He invited Zhènhuá 震華 to come be the main teacher at the school. The curriculum focused on Huáyán 華嚴, and the Vinaya 律宗, but it also included instruction in the Confucian classics. The school was run according to the rules of a public monastery. Students participated in morning and evening chanting services, and practiced meditation. The seminary closed a few years after the outbreak of the Second-Sino Japanese War made its continued functioning impossible.
