This file has been created in the project "A Digital Comparative Edition of the Bieyi za ahan jing" conducted at the Chung-hwa Institute for Buddhist Studies 中華佛學研究所 and the Dharma Drum Buddhist College 法鼓佛教研修學院. The project is funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange 蔣經國國際學術交流基金會. The aim of the project is to produce a comparative digital edition and partial translation of the 364 sutras of the BZA and their parallels. The texts are kept in single files in an eXist database and are realized via XQuery and XSLT as HTML for the online user. The project lasts from 2005-2008. 旃陀羅 !莫來至此!
佛告之言:
汝識旃陀羅,知旃陀羅法不?
婆羅門答言:
不識,不知旃陀羅旃陀羅法!汝識旃陀羅,知旃陀羅法耶?
佛告之言:
我識旃陀羅,知旃陀羅法。
時婆羅門於坐處起,為佛敷座,而白佛言:
汝為我說旃陀羅法!
爾時世尊即坐其座,而說偈言:

婆羅門聞是偈,讚言:
如是,如是大精進,實如所說!大牟尼不以種姓是婆羅門,不以種姓旃陀羅,善能修行,是婆羅門;作惡行者,旃陀羅。
婆羅門聞是偈已,歡喜信解,盛滿鉢飲食持以奉佛,佛不為受。何以故?以是說法食故。婆羅門白佛言:
此食當以施誰?
佛言:
我不見沙門、婆羅門若天、若魔、若梵能消此食者,無有是處。當以此食著淨無虫水中。
婆羅門即以此食著無虫水中,烟炎俱起,滑滑大聲。爾時婆羅門生未曾有想:
佛.世尊尚於食所出大神足!
婆羅門還至佛所,白佛言:
唯願世尊聽我出家得及道次!
佛言:
善來!比丘!
鬚髮自落,法服著身,即得具戒,如出家法,於空靜處獨己精修。所以族姓子剃除鬚髮,被服法衣者,為正修無上梵行故。族姓子梵行已立,所作已辦,不受後有,成阿羅漢,得解脫樂,而說偈言:
我昔迷正真 愚惑造邪行 不識清淨道 又不知死路 妄想生橫計 劬勞承奉火 空為虛妄事 徒損無所獲 今遇天中天 黑闇蒙惠光 獲得樂中樂 具戒得三明 於佛教法中 所作皆已訖 本雖婆羅門 實是旃陀羅 今日真實是 淨行婆羅門 遠離於淤泥 淨自澡浴已 過韋陀彼岸
