This file has been created in the project "A Digital Comparative Edition of the Bieyi za ahan jing" conducted at the Chung-hwa Institute for Buddhist Studies 中華佛學研究所 and the Dharma Drum Buddhist College 法鼓佛教研修學院. The project is funded by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange 蔣經國國際學術交流基金會. The aim of the project is to produce a comparative digital edition and partial translation of the 364 sutras of the BZA and their parallels. The texts are kept in single files in an eXist database and are realized via XQuery and XSLT as HTML for the online user. The project lasts from 2005-2008. 夫為人者,云何愛己,云何惡己?
復作是念:
若身、口、意行於善業,遠離諸惡,名是愛己;若身、口、意行不善業,作眾惡行,名不愛己。
波斯匿王思惟是已,從靜處起,往詣佛所,頂禮佛足,在一面坐,即白佛言:
世尊!我獨靜處,作是思惟:
云何名愛己,云何不愛己?若能於身、口、意行善,是名愛己;若身、口、意行不善業,名不愛己。
佛言:
大王!實爾。若人身、口、意行惡者,是名不愛己。何以故?彼為惡者,雖有怨讎,不必速能有所傷害。自造惡業,毀害甚深,是以自作惡業,名為不愛己。又有為己,故作殺、盜、婬,是為損己。若人身、口、意行善者,設作是念:
我捨所愛──居家、妻子。名不愛己,實是愛己。何以故?如此之人,雖有親友、父母、兄弟,恩徹骨髓,至其衰老,不能得救。要自身、口、意修行善,能自濟度,是名愛己。 得 相

若人自愛己 不以惡加彼 無有造作惡 得於快樂者 若人自愛己 應修諸善業 速疾能獲得 種種諸快樂 夫欲愛己者 應當自擁護 譬如邊表城 曠野多賊盜 得值無難時 應當自隱藏 若其失無難 值難苦無窮
