如是我聞:一時佛在舍衛國 祇樹給孤獨園


時有一天,光色倍常,威顏晃曜,遍照祇洹,來 * 詣頂禮,退坐一面,而說偈言:

云何輕賤他    及不輕賤他
為他所輕賤    以何為首目
我今問如來    大仙為我說

爾時世尊以偈答曰:

善知不輕賤    不知名輕賤
樂法名恭敬    慢法名不恭
不近善知識    是名不敬首
樂行於非法    親友生怨嫉
與怨為親友    是為不敬首
如有婦女人    履行不貞良
好與姦婬通    作於無 * 理行
男子違禮度    其義亦復然
如是等名為    輕賤之元首
斗秤欺誑人    巧偽不均平
苟且懷貪利    是名輕賤首
博弈相侵欺    損喪錢財盡
如是等名為    輕賤之首目
嗜睡著美味    早眠而晚起
懈怠於事務    而復憙瞋恚
如斯之等人    亦名輕賤首
耳璫及 * 鐶釧    擎蓋錦 * 屣履
貧窮自嚴飾    是名輕賤首
財物既尠少    愛著情愈濃
雖生剎利種    冀求得王位
如是愚癡人    是名輕賤首
財寶 * 其業大    多眷屬親友
* 食於美味    不分施與他
受他好飲食    及得財寶利
彼來至己家    都無報答心
乃至不與食    是名輕賤首
父母年朽邁    衰老既至已
自食於甘美    終不知供養
如斯之等人    是名輕賤首
父母及兄弟    親屬并姊妹
打罵出惡言    是名輕賤首
沙門婆羅門    中時來至家
不請不施食    是名輕賤首
沙門婆羅門    及貧窮乞匃
罵辱不施 * 食    是名輕賤首
謗佛及聲聞    出家在家人
為此非法事    是名輕賤首
實非是羅漢    自稱是羅漢
天人婆羅門    沙門中大賊
若為如是者    是多輕賤首
如斯之等類    為他所輕賤
世間可輕賤    我悉知見之
宜應遠捨離    如怖畏嶮道

天復以偈讚言:

我昔已曾見    婆羅門涅槃
久棄捨嫌怖    能度世間愛


爾時此天說此偈已,歡喜而去。

時有天子容色絕妙,於後夜時來詣佛所,稽首佛足,退坐一面,其身光明遍照祇樹給孤獨園。 時彼天子說偈問佛:

退落墮負處    云何而得知
唯願世尊說    云何負處門

爾時世尊說偈答言:

勝處易得知    負處知亦易
樂法為勝處    毀法為負處
愛樂惡知識    不愛善知識
善友生怨結    是名墮負門
愛樂不善人    善人反憎惡
欲惡不欲善    是名負處門
斗秤以欺人    是名墮負門
博弈耽嗜酒    遊輕著女色
費喪於財物    是名墮負門
女人不自守    捨主隨他行
男子心放蕩    捨妻隨外色
如是為家者    斯皆墮負門
老婦得少夫    心常懷嫉姤
懷嫉臥不安    是則墮負門
老夫得少婦    墮負處亦然
常樂著睡眠    知識同遊戲
怠墮好瞋恨    斯皆墮負門
多財結朋友    酒食奢不節
多費喪財物    斯皆墮負門
小財多貪愛    生於剎利心
常求為王者    是則墮負門
求珠璫瓔珞    革屣履傘蓋
莊嚴自慳惜    是則墮負門
受他豐美食    自慳惜其財
食他不反報    是則墮負門
沙門婆羅門    屈請入其舍
慳惜不時施    是則墮負門
沙門婆羅門    次第行乞食
呵責不欲施    是則墮負門
若父母年老    不及時奉養
有財而不施    是則墮負門
於父母兄弟    搥打而罵辱
無有尊卑序    是則墮負門
佛及弟子眾    在家與出家
毀呰不恭敬    是則墮負門
實非阿羅漢    羅漢過自稱
是則世間賊    墮於負處門
此世間負處    我知見故說
猶如嶮怖道    慧者當遠避

時彼天子復說偈言:

久見婆羅門    逮得般涅槃
一切怖已過    永超世恩愛


時彼天子聞佛所說,歡喜隨喜,稽首佛足,即沒不現。

Parābhavasuttaṃ

From the VRI Chaṭṭa Saṅgāyana edition. PTS: Sn, 018. This is part of the text-cluster of BZA (T.100) sutra 277.

Evaṃ me sutaṃ– ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme. Atha kho aññatarā devatā abhikkantāya rattiyā abhikkantavaṇṇā kevalakappaṃ jetavanaṃ obhāsetvā yena bhagavā tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā bhagavantaṃ abhivādetvā ekamantaṃ aṭṭhāsi. Ekamantaṃ ṭhitā kho sā devatā bhagavantaṃ gāthāya ajjhabhāsi–

“Parābhavantaṃ purisaṃ, mayaṃ pucchāma gotama [var] ;
bhagavantaṃ [var] puṭṭhumāgamma, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Suvijāno bhavaṃ hoti, suvijāno [var] parābhavo;
dhammakāmo bhavaṃ hoti, dhammadessī parābhavo”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, paṭhamo so parābhavo;
dutiyaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Asantassa piyā honti, sante na kurute piyaṃ;
asataṃ dhammaṃ roceti, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, dutiyo so parābhavo;
tatiyaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Niddāsīlī sabhāsīlī, anuṭṭhātā ca yo naro;
alaso kodhapaññāṇo, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, tatiyo so parābhavo;
catutthaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Yo mātaraṃ [var] pitaraṃ vā, jiṇṇakaṃ gatayobbanaṃ;
pahu santo na bharati, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, catuttho so parābhavo;
pañcamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Yo brāhmaṇaṃ [var] samaṇaṃ vā, aññaṃ vāpi vanibbakaṃ;
musāvādena vañceti, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, pañcamo so parābhavo;
chaṭṭhamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Pahūtavitto puriso, sahirañño sabhojano;
eko bhuñjati sādūni, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, chaṭṭhamo so parābhavo;
sattamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Jātitthaddho dhanatthaddho, gottatthaddho ca yo naro;
saññātiṃ atimaññeti, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, sattamo so parābhavo;
aṭṭhamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Itthidhutto surādhutto, akkhadhutto ca yo naro;
laddhaṃ laddhaṃ vināseti, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, aṭṭhamo so parābhavo;
navamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Sehi dārehi asantuṭṭho [var] , vesiyāsu padussati [var] ;
dussati [var] paradāresu, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, navamo so parābhavo;
dasamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Atītayobbano poso, āneti timbarutthaniṃ;
tassā issā na supati, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, dasamo so parābhavo;
ekādasamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Itthiṃ soṇḍiṃ vikiraṇiṃ, purisaṃ vāpi tādisaṃ;
issariyasmiṃ ṭhapeti [var] , taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Iti hetaṃ vijānāma, ekādasamo so parābhavo;
dvādasamaṃ bhagavā brūhi, kiṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Appabhogo mahātaṇho, khattiye jāyate kule;
so ca rajjaṃ patthayati, taṃ parābhavato mukhaṃ”.
“Ete parābhave loke, paṇḍito samavekkhiya;
ariyo dassanasampanno, sa lokaṃ bhajate sivan”ti.
