如是我聞:一時佛在王舍城 伽蘭陀竹林


爾時王舍城中有一貧人,極為窮困,甚可憐愍,於佛法中生清淨信,能淨持戒,少讀誦經,亦能小施。有此四事,因緣果報,身壞命終,生忉利天,勝妙善處。此新生天有三事勝:一、色貌勝,二、名稱勝,三、壽命勝。諸天見已,皆共恭敬,往帝釋所,白帝釋言:

「 有新生天,有三事勝於餘諸天。」

帝釋言:

「我先曾見彼新生天,本為人時貧窮困苦,極為寒悴,直 * 以信心向於三寶,能淨持戒,少多修施。今得生此忉利天上。」

爾時帝釋即說偈言:

若於三寶生淨信    其心堅固不動轉
持所受戒不毀犯    當知此人不名 *
名為智慧壽命人    以敬無上三寶故
得生天上受勝樂    是故應當作斯學


爾時諸天聞此偈已,歡喜信受,作禮還宮。

如是我聞:一時佛住王舍城迦蘭陀竹園。


時王舍城中有一士夫,貧窮辛苦,而住佛、法、僧,受持禁戒,多聞廣學,力行惠施,正見成就。 彼身壞命終,得生天上,生三十三天,有三事勝於餘三十三天。何等為三?一者、天壽,二者、天色,三者、天名稱。諸三十三天見是天子三事特勝──天壽、天色、天名稱勝。餘諸天見已,往詣天帝釋所,作如是言:

「憍尸迦!當知有一天子,始生此天,於先諸天三事特勝──天壽、天色及天名稱。」

時天帝釋告彼天子:

「諸仁者!我見此人於王舍城作一士夫,貧窮辛苦,於如來法、律得信向心,……(乃至)正見成就,身壞命終,來生此天,於諸三十三天三事特勝──天壽、天色及天名稱。」

時天帝釋即說偈言:

正信於如來    決定不傾動
受持真實戒    聖戒無厭者
於佛心清淨    成就於正見
當知非貧苦    不空而自活
故於佛法僧    當生清淨信
智慧力增明    思念佛正教


佛說此經已,諸比丘聞佛所說,歡喜奉行。

Daliddasuttaṃ

From the VRI Chaṭṭa Saṅgāyana edition. PTS: SN, I, 231. This is part of the text-cluster of BZA (T.100) sutra 051.

Ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā rājagahe viharati veḷuvane kalandakanivāpe. Tatra kho bhagavā bhikkhū āmantesi– “bhikkhavo”ti. “Bhadante”ti te bhikkhū bhagavato paccassosuṃ. Bhagavā etadavoca–

“Bhūtapubbaṃ, bhikkhave, aññataro puriso imasmiṃyeva rājagahe manussadaliddo [var] ahosi manussakapaṇo manussavarāko. So tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye saddhaṃ samādiyi, sīlaṃ samādiyi, sutaṃ samādiyi, cāgaṃ samādiyi, paññaṃ samādiyi. So tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye saddhaṃ samādiyitvā sīlaṃ samādiyitvā sutaṃ samādiyitvā cāgaṃ samādiyitvā paññaṃ samādiyitvā kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapajji devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sahabyataṃ.

So aññe deve atirocati vaṇṇena ceva yasasā ca. Tatra sudaṃ, bhikkhave, devā tāvatiṃsā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti– ‘acchariyaṃ vata bho, abbhutaṃ vata bho! Ayañhi devaputto pubbe manussabhūto samāno manussadaliddo ahosi manussakapaṇo manussavarāko; so kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapanno devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sahabyataṃ. So aññe deve atirocati vaṇṇena ceva yasasā cā”’ti.

“Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṃse āmantesi– ‘mā kho tumhe, mārisā, etassa devaputtassa ujjhāyittha. Eso kho, mārisā, devaputto pubbe manussabhūto samāno tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye saddhaṃ samādiyi, sīlaṃ samādiyi, sutaṃ samādiyi, cāgaṃ samādiyi, paññaṃ samādiyi. So tathāgatappavedite dhammavinaye saddhaṃ samādiyitvā sīlaṃ samādiyitvā sutaṃ samādiyitvā cāgaṃ samādiyitvā paññaṃ samādiyitvā kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapanno devānaṃ tāvatiṃsānaṃ sahabyataṃ So aññe deve atirocati vaṇṇena ceva yasasā cā”’ti.

Atha kho, bhikkhave, sakko devānamindo deve tāvatiṃse anunayamāno tāyaṃ velāyaṃ imā gāthāyo abhāsi–

“Yassa saddhā tathāgate, acalā suppatiṭṭhitā;
sīlañca yassa kalyāṇaṃ, ariyakantaṃ pasaṃsitaṃ.
“Saṅghe pasādo yassatthi, ujubhūtañca dassanaṃ;
adaliddoti taṃ āhu, amoghaṃ tassa jīvitaṃ.
“Tasmā saddhañca sīlañca, pasādaṃ dhammadassanaṃ;
anuyuñjetha medhāvī, saraṃ buddhāna sāsanan”ti.
